Press is owned and operated by Sheila Carmody who started the business
in 2010 to meet the demand for content for electronic communications:
web pages, social media, and email marketing.
Sheila has 20-plus years of experience in communications, first as a writer/editor for weekly and monthly cable TV guides, circulation 1.5 million, and then as a reporter for a daily newspaper, specializing in features and entertainment.
We create and manage content for websites on WordPress, DNN, Drupal, as well as for Social Media Networks.
In 2000, Sheila relocated to upstate New York and worked as a freelance writer reporting on security issues in multiple industries -- hotels, hospitals and colleges and universities -- and then became Senior Writer for the New York State School Boards Association's Communications Department. She started writing about education reform and Best Practices in K-12 education almost to the day the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) was signed into law.
Sheila's writing has always been influential, early on entertaining and informing readers in a daily newspaper and then influencing governmental policy and later on engaging web page browsers.
Increasing Applications 60%
As an advocacy journalist -- and traditional journalist -- Sheila regularly received press releases and media pitches from organizations eager to be in the news, but they lacked news value. She wondered if a media pitch with news value for a broader audience would have an indelible impact on an organization's bottom line.
To test her theory, Sheila took a media relations position at a small private college. Her media pitches quickly drew the interest of news reporters looking for stories. The college became a major source for the media on everything from financial aid to the economy, the medical profession and undergraduate research, even sports. Student applications, which had diminished largely due to the rising cost of tuition, skyrocketed 60% over an 18 month period.
Marketing Communications Professional
The media relations position lead to a marketing communications role at Project Lead The Way (PLTW), a national middle and high school curriculum that engages students in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects and gives science and math education the application aspect necessary for authentic learning. At PLTW, Sheila has helped forge a new brand of education for 21st Century Learning.
Sheila started Guaranteed Press in 2010 to meet the demand for web page content in electronic communications: web sites, social media, electronic newsletters. If you need marketing communications services, contact Sheila at (518) 366-6148.
